I found some of the first photos of the little yellow house. The people who owned it called it the Sugar Shack. With two years of clean up, reclaimation, and renovation behind me, I was shocked to see how bad the place looked! The property was quite overgrown and debris laden unfortunately. It had been empty for a long, long time at that point. I wonder what I saw in the place when I sort through the photos. I just saw a lovely little place or at least what a lovely little place it could become.
Back in the first summer I would go to the little house, mow, back up garbage, and clear weeds on a daily basis. It was so hot! But with the daily application of elbow grease the property started to look better. The house was something else though. We tore it all out down to the studs and redid everything. That included putting in new insulation, new wiring, new drywall, etc.
Well, now that things are closer to the comfort stage...I have been living in the cottage for over a year (March passed). It is hard to believe that it ever looked like that.
